South of Downtown Sacramento, the Land Park neighborhood is best known for William Land Park, which is a popular spot for picnicking and jogging. It’s also home to Fairytale Town, the Sacramento Zoo, and a nine-hole golf course (William Land Park Golf Course.)
The surrounding upscale neighborhood features charming historic homes and tree-lined streets. There’s no shortage of nearby local favorites including ice cream parlors like Gunther’s and Vic’s, sweet spots like Marie’s Donuts and Freeport Bakery, and specialty grocery stores such as Taylor’s Market. At the northern end of Land Park sits a section full of ethnic restaurants from Ethiopian to Nepalese, Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese. Other favorites in this area include Sacramento’s famous Tower Theater, multiple breweries (New Helvetia Brewing Company and Bike Dog Brewing Company), and the WPA Rock Garden.
The area is a year-round source of events for individuals and families — food/cooking events, the International Kids Festival, the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, Music in the Park, Race for the Arts, Tales and Ales Brewfest Fundraisers, Ice Cream Safaris at the Sacramento Zoo, Winter Wonderland events, and much more.
